We stayed at Hotel Lungarno on the bank of the Arno River, about 2 minutes walk from Ponte Vecchio. It is a very nice hotel to explore Florence from.

We did the usual wandering about the old town, checking out old squares, having coffee at a place older than white-settled Australia, etc. An entire afternoon was blown in Giardiano di Boboli, which is a huge palace garden (more like a really big park actually).

From Florence we caught the train to Rome and made our way to Hotel Eden. It is a very 'grand' hotel but the service didn't quite match the price. Still, the food was pretty amazing!

We caught up with Massimo, Paula and Francesca Cannovi for a lovely Saturday night dinner. Francesca was surprised but quite welcoming.

'Impossibly beautiful' is the only way to describe this place, and the Amalfi Coast in general. every time we happened to look up and around us, we were stunned. A truly remarkable place.

Capri was quite good looking as well, but felt quite removed from the water (which is odd, since it is an island). Pompei was magical.

Even more photos (definitely check out the panorama)
